Nymph Keeping Watch for Hera while the other nymphs bang her husband Zeus.
Hera approached the adulterous orgy, and Echo stopped her and talked incessantly, blocking Heras view.
When Hera discovered the betrayal, she took Echo’s voice, cursing her to only repeat the words of others, and banishing her to the caves and mountains.
It is said, in the temple at Dodona, A single bronze vase sat on a pedestal. It was sculpted into the image of a woman putting her finger to her lips. The vase vibrated with a constant hum day and night, only becoming still when a human touched it, and resuming once the hand was removed.
Echo found love again, in the mountains of Arkkadia, the Dominion of Pan. She joined him on his hunt, charging forth with his pack of hunting dogs and falling in love with his powerful voice. Pan searched for the only nymph to reciprocate his love, but found only echoes.
